Love has nothing to do with what you are expecting to get . . . Only with what you are expected to give. . . . Which is everything.

Katharine Hepburn

So I'm blogging about love. Yep. The DSS blog challenge is to blog about love. So I've been giving this a lot of thought and I think I'll blog about motherly love.

In November my dear son turned thirteen. He's one of those "all american" kids. He gets good grades without effort, he loves sports (especially playing football), he was a boyscout, and he'd do just about anything to help someone out. Did you know that thirteen year olds trade their all american badge in for a new shiney one that they proudly display in honor of their new found careless attitude and lack of responcibilities. Their need to please their teachers and parents are long gone as well as their ability to make good choices. And the grades.... F is not for Fantastic nor Funny. So... where is the love post here? hehehe....

The love post is here. Even on this all terrain path we are now traveling, the thing I keep remindeing my dear son again and again is that he is not alone. We are here for him and we love him no matter what. Our love is unconditional.

And here's a lo I worked on earlier in the week. It's of the kids walking the dogs last month when we had some snow. Thanks for looking! And credits can be found in my gallery. :D

Have a great hump day tomorrow!

Sweet Sunday

Today is a good day. A wonderful family day at home. It's SO nice when life slows enough to have and enjoy a lazy Sunday. The kids are playing together with the lincoln logs as I type. They are actually playing together without bickering... I may faint. hehehehe

Yesterday I was going to go down to our local grocery store to sell candy for the school fund raiser but it was so stormy we ended up staying home. Instead, I cleaned my EHD and organized many of my files. Wow does it feel good to do that. It's also inspirational because it reminded me of all the cool stuff I have. I noticed that I'm in the "rut" so to speak of using the same few designers and I forget about some of the other stuff I've picked up here and there. I guess it's kinda like how we get into the same rut in dressing. We wear like 20% of what's in our closets 80% of the time.

I also updated my itunes yesterday. I bought this phone nearly a year ago and haven't updated my itunes so it was time. BTW, I love love love this phone. I rarely use my phone as a phone but I use it like an ipod all the time. My dh was looking to get a new phone soon and he asked me recently what I was wanting... I thought he was kidding me... I'm not giving up the phone I have. Love love love it! Did I mention love enough?

And speaking of my phone/itunes, my ds got this from his grandparents at Christmas. Then dd got one a few weeks ago from the grandparents for her birthday. So yesterday we also fixed up dd with all the music she likes and now she's set.

And I find it somewhat ironic that I'm speaking of the kids crawling around on the carpet playing with lincoln logs earlier in the post and then this high tech sctuff. Ya know ds wouldn't be there if he wasn't grounded from his PSP. Yep he's slacking in school the last couple of weeks so it was taken away. You would have thunk the world had stopped the day I took it away but looky now. ;)

Darling daughter does not have a psp but instead the pink ds. Luckily she's never been obsessed with video games like the boy.

Well I should be getting off of the computer. This week I only have to go work three days and then we have Thursday and Friday off for winter break. Yay! Yay! Yay!

I hope you all have a super super week! Thanks for stopping in!

A new header

It was time to change it again. So refresh the browser if you don't see it please. ;)

We had a good weekend. Saturday I cleaned the house up and Sunday we cleaned the carpets in the house. I finished painting some touch ups in the bathroom and dh finished the trim. I think I am going to paint the ceiling in there next, but all in all it looks great!

We rented a couple of movies Sunday. Zoom was one and it was okay. It wasn't quite as funny as one would expect from a Tim Allen movie. The other was Flicka and I really didn't care for it to much. I love Tim McGraw's singing but I didn't think much of his acting. The story line wasn't bad though.

I also finished one of the books I was reading this weekend. It was GOOD. I really like Julie Garwood novels. She writes a different gernes but really they are all excellent stories. :)

We had Monday off and so on Sunday and Monday I got a little scrappy and did these lo's.

Credits for both can be found in my galleries. Thanks for looking!

A birthday, valentines day, Grey's Anatomy and

the secret. Let's start at the beginning.

Monday was my darling daughters 11th birthday. We had a very special day planned for her. Dh stayed up late Sunday night and made homemade cupcakes for her to take to school Monday. Then he delivered them to her at school and sat and ate lunch there with her. Her best friend came home with her that afternoon and we had dd's favorite dinner - spegetti- bo-betty. (Don't ask, she's just called it that forever. hehe) And then some cake and at her request, creme brulee. What more could a girl want? It was a really nice day.

And Valentines's day, well it was nice too. Here's lo I made. Dh bought me a cup and thermos, and yes I'm spoiled rotten! ;)

Yikes! Grey's was a doozey! Will they kill off Meredith or not? I generally do not like to see the gorey shows but I really liked the last two episodes. And isn't McDreamy so dreamy!!! Just love that he jumped in after Meredith. What a leap of faith he took to think that she was in the water and that he could save her. I just love this show!!!

And yesterday I headed home after work so that I could watch Oprah. Now I don't watch it regularly but yesterday's episode was a second segment on the Secret. I taped it because was really such an interesting topic. Did you see it? I've been reading the book this week and it has really stirred something in me. Good things I tell you!

With that I'll lead into a list of things I'm grateful for!

  1. I'm grateful that my dd is feeling better
  2. I'm grateful for the friends in my life
  3. I'm grateful for my students and their efforts
  4. I'm grateful that I have an opportunity to be a positive influence in others
  5. I'm grateful that I notice and appreciate the "little" things in life
  6. I'm grateful that my children are trying hard in school this week
  7. I'm grateful my dh and I have a loving marriage
  8. I'm grateful that we both have the opportunity to work doing what we love

And here's a lo I did of my ds in his new leather jacket. Doesn't he look handsome! This was taken a couple of weeks ago at his church youth group meeting.

Well I hope you all have a fabulous weekend. It's a three day weekend for us so Yippee! Maybe I can get the house chores done and do some scrapping. Have a great one all!

Quote

"The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience." Eleanor Roosevelt

The DSS challenge is to blog about how this applies or does not apply to me. I think I do live life and for the most part to the utmost. I'm certainly not afraid of newer or richer experiences but I also get comfy where I am at, so I could improve in this area.

It's funny that this is the quote for the blog challenge for the past week. I was watching Oprah and saw the segment on the Secret and then bought the book the day I ran my dd into the doctors office. It really makes you think of similar things that are pointed out in this simple quote.

And an update on my dd... she has a horrible sinus infection which was triggering her asthma. So, luckily we got her right in for a check up and she is now taking antibiotics to get better.

Speaking of my dd, did I mention she has a birthday tomorrow? My baby is turning 11. Where has the time gone?

Have a super Sunday all! And I'll leave you with a lo of cheer camp last month. :D

My darling daughter

is sick again. Ugh! I'm taking her into the doctors today to get her checked up.

So last weekend I made a new bracelet and earrings with some beads I bought eons ago. The ladies came over from the church and we did some beading and it was fun. I don't get my beading stuff out often enough. :) And here's a pic of what I did. Because of the flash on my camera, the beads look much brighter than they really are. They are really muted earth toned colors.

And in an attempt to give myself an attitude adjustment, I'm going to make a list of tthings I'm grateful for. These are in no particular order. ;)
  1. I'm grateful for my family
  2. I'm grateful for our health
  3. I'm grateful that the bills are paid and there's food in the cupboards
  4. I'm grateful that we have everything we NEED
  5. I'm grateful to have digital scrapbooking for my creative outlet
  6. I'm grateful to have some amazing friends both on the internet and in real life.
  7. I'm grateful to have the job I do and that I can make a difference in children's lives
  8. I'm grateful to my church family
  9. I'm grateful my dh's surgury last week went so well and he healed quickly
  10. I'm grateful that God is good.

And this week while scrapping, I dug back into the archives of photographs. Just for fun!

Thanks for looking! And thanks for the kind comments! Have a great weekend!

Full Moon?

The reason I think I'm bringing this up is because its seems since returning to work from Christmas break people are just rude, pissy, down in the mouth all the time and just overall horrible. But they aren't like this all the time so what gives? I've just been dreading going to work every day lately. I've noticed that I've been using by blog to relieve some frustration but haven't really addressed the problem... well, there it is for you. How do I get out of the path of the negitivity at work? That is the question of the week!

Thanks for listening to me grumble!!!!

So, dh is back to work today. We are so so so lucky that he recovered amazingly quick. Thank you Lord! God is good!

And just when I thought this week might actually be mellow, our W-2's arrive. So I guess that'll be keeping me out of trouble a few nights this week. hehehe

Last night we stopped at Target to buy my ds a new trapper keeper because his other was stolen OUT OF HIS LOCKER on school Friday. :S But I'm not going there this post... I actually was going to say that when we were in there for that, we stumbled across an amazing sale and my dd scored. Last spring we redecorated her room in a shabby chic feel. Target has an amazing line of bedding but it was not in the budget at this time as we bought her a few antique peices of furniture. So last night all their SC bedding was on CLEARANCE. YES! And dd birthday is in one week. So there won't be much surprise for her this year on her b-day but she was so so so happy last night about being able to get the bedding she's been drooling over for the last year. So happy birthday McKena!

And my dh is SO CUTE! Ever since we met he cannot keep a secret. Really! Christmas - birthdays - whatever he can't keep a secret. Usually it drives me nuts that he can't keep one and it drives him nuts that I can. ;) So Valentines day is around the corner. On Saturday I had a group of ladies from the church over for fellowship and so I kick dh out of the house. When he returned he hands me a Starbucks bag and says Happy Valentines Day. I say thanks and give him a kiss and set the bag on the counter. He says open it now, please! He couldn't wait until Valentine's day. heheheh. Not that I'm complaining. He bought me a new coffee cup and a wonderful small pink thermas I've been eyeing since Christmas. He is to good to me! Now I can take some coffee to work. Yay! What a great way to start off my week!!!

Well I need to go and get ready for work. A long 12 hour work day awaits. But before I go I'd like to share a couple of new lo's. Thanks for looking!

Have a great week all!!!
